Sufjan Stevens: Songs For Christmas

Here is something very fitting for the holiday's. Released on November 21st, 2006; with the holiday season in mind, Sufjan Stevens creates an unorthodox Christmas album that brings together witty "wal-mart jokes" and classic Christmas carols. Were not talking your traditional "hark! the herald angel sings," with a large choral background, but instead you'll hear a rendition with banjo strumming, melodic orchestral arrangements, and even synthesizers, electric guitars and Sufjans mysterious vocal harmonies. The album is actually broken up in three Volumes but on itunes its all collaborated into one super awesome album

I've waited until now to start listening to it, because i didn't want it to get old too quickly, but i guarantee you won't regret getting this one. Although i've always been a sucker for Sinatra and Cole around Christmas time, this is definitely a huge step up from playing Mariah Carey's Christmas hits for the family. Unless your family is my family, then you just play the Borat soundtrack and pretend its Armenian/Iranian music.
